Jag Fortsätter Glömma (I Continue To Forget) is Joakim Berg's first solo album. All of the songs on the album were written solely by Joakim Berg, apart from Mer än Ingenting whose music was written by Joakim Berg and Martin Sköld. The album was recorded at Hamsterdam Studios in Stockholm. Jag Fortsätter Glömma debuted at number one on the Swedish albums chart and received positive reviews in the media.

Joakim Berg put out the below message (translated from Swedish) on 12 May 2022, describing the beginnings of Jag Fortsätter Glömma:

September 2019.

It all started very simply.
I was a little less tired of myself than usual and had a song idea where there was a little spark of magic.
I wrote lyrics with the intention of singing myself for the first time in several years.
It was insanely fun.
Best of all was that my voice sounded different. Steady but soft and airy. Not at all like I remembered it. A big plus in my book.
It was as if a Frankenstein's monster of constructed self-confidence and need for assertion suddenly ceased to exist.
I wrote clearly, recorded, played all instruments, sang and produced it in two days.
The song made me both happy and sad in all its simplicity but the insight that followed was not entirely positive:
This is the beginning of my own album. As I in my foolishness promised dearly and sacrosanctly to never do.
But there was something in the history as recounted in that first song. Something that was point-blank, that lit up that area in the mind where things you should not hide are forgotten.
I set up a thin set of rules around the work:
It should only happen when I have 100% feeling.
It should be fun. No demands. At my own pace. In my own studio.
Everything should be sincere, as far as that is even possible, or in any case an honest attempt to push through the fog of cigarette smoke that hides even the past.
Last but not least: Avoid searched metaphors and parables (it still works that way).
I decided to finish five songs without talking about it or letting anyone else listen.
Mostly to get into the flow and avoid reacting to comments from outside.
Even opinions in all good intentions can make such a fragile little bird as a song fly its head before it's inside the patio door window.
In the name of honesty, it is also irresistible to linger in a home-built dream world and just get to own it alone a little while.
Nothing ever goes as planned, and this collection of songs is no exception.
They do not sound like what I imagined when I started. But I have really tried to let the notes and lyrics take the paths they wanted without involving the brain in processes it has nothing to do with.
So the 11 songs that went to the finish are simply the ones that hit me hardest.
That is just to humbly capitulate to the fact.
This is surely what I like. Today.
